UPDATE: Human remains found by local couple identified
UPDATE (12/20/23): The Paris Police Department confirms the remains were positively identified as Ernie Oskey of Murray, Kentucky. Police say evidence indicates the cause of death was suicide, and that Oskey took his own life sometime in July 2023.

PARIS, Tenn. — A couple makes a gruesome discovery in one West Tennessee city.
According to the Paris Police Department, human remains were found by a husband and wife on Friday.
A media release shared by the department states the couple was walking through the woods near Russell Street, just before sunset on December 8, when they saw the human remains near a tree.
According to the release, the husband and wife then went to a nearby business to contact police.
Paris Police say officers arrived on scene and contacted the Henry County Coroner’s Office, along with investigators.
According to the release, no obvious signs of foul play were observed, and the remains were sent to the Medical Examiner’s office in Nashville.
At this time, the remains have yet to be identified and an investigation remains ongoing.
