JACKSON, Tenn.– Wednesday marks National Horse Day, which highlights the importance of these animals impact in history.

Lainey Hutchison says everyday is horse day for her.

A Crockett County native, she’s a sophomore at the University of Tennessee at Martin and owns multiple businesses that teach the importance of agriculture.

Hutchison has been awarded for her work with horses since she was 3 years old.

One of her business teaches young children the importance of agriculture.

Children are also able to learn important lessons from the many animals that are located on her farm from horses, goats, and cows.

Hutchison also participates in rodeos where she and her horse, Butch compete in categories such as roping and goat tying.

“A lot of people think they can just go out and hop on a horse and get at it. But, that’s something that you really, really, really work hard at. It’s not something that you get good at and quit working. Its difficult and it’s not an on season or an off season its a year round thing,” Hutchison says.

Hutchison says she is working on inclusivity for one of her businesses and is excited to share this opportunity with others.
