28 new members graduate from Leadership Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. – New members were inducted into Leadership Jackson Thursday night.

A total of 28 new members graduated from their Leadership Jackson class after 13 weeks of a program that included 104 hours of class time, eight hours of homework, and two hours of community service, among more.

Every year Leadership Jackson holds a class that allows business professionals in the Hub City to learn how to be a leader.

“Part of the goal of Leadership Jackson is that individuals learn that they have the power and the opportunity and the resources to help our community improve,” said Margaret Livingston, the Chair of the 2023 Leadership Jackson Class.

And on the stage at the Carl Grant Events Center at Union University, they began the celebration of their accomplishment.

“They’ll walk across the stage just like a graduation, and we’ll give them a certificate, smile for a picture, and then they’ll go home and celebrate with their families,” Livingston said.

A few standouts from the graduating class received awards as well. Four graduates received a Jewel award and Renee Jones from the Boys and Girls Club received the Diamond award.

“The most elite leadership Jackson award that you can win. It means you have gone above and beyond for your class, you’ve helped people beyond the class, you’ve had great attendance and wonderful contributions to each and every session,” Livingston said.

The four recipients of the Jewel award were Kyle Barron, Ed Jackson, Maegan Bayliss, and Don McCorry.
