Carla Parrott Dawson

Carla Parrott Dawson, age 71, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and wife of Mr. Jack Dawson, departed this life Saturday morning, December 16, 2023 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Collierville, Tennessee.

Carla was born July 2, 1952 in Fayette County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Horace Carl Parrott and Maxine Burnette Parrott. She graduated from Fayette County High School and from Memphis State in 1973 with her bachelor’s degree in education. She was a lifelong resident of Somerville and was a teacher at Fayette Academy before her retirement in 1995. Carla was married May 25, 1974 to Jack Dawson and was a member of Williston Methodist Church.

Mrs. Dawson is survived by her husband of 49 years, Jack Dawson of Somerville, TN; her daughter, Jill Bryan (Jason) of Somerville, TN; her son, Layne Dawson (Jamie) of Somerville, TN; and four grandchildren, Dawson Bryan, Ainsley Bryan, Jackson Dawson and Cooper Dawson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jeri Jenkins and her brother, Michael Parrott.

A visitation for Mrs. Dawson will be from 12 noon until 2 P.M. Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Memorial Services will be at 2 P.M. Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Jay Wells officiating.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital – Cardiac Department, 848 Adams Avenue, Memphis, TN 38103.
