Hundreds of new Bulldogs move onto Union University’s campus Friday

JACKSON, Tenn. — Hundreds of new Bulldogs now call the Hub City home as move in day at Union University kicked off the beginning of the fall semester.

Union University“When I drove up, they were all waving at me,” new student Hannah Heckart said.

More than 350 students fill the university’s campus Friday for new student move in day.

For freshman Moriah Kerfoot, the tiny dorm space is one she’s happy to call her new home.

“I have two little sisters, and this is my first time being away from them,” she said. “But I have my own space, so I am excited about that.”

Across the hall, Heckart, her suite mate, settles in. “They weren’t kidding when they said you have to get used to it, but it’s nice,” she said.

“I had to go through every last thing even down to the pencils to make sure I had everything I needed and not everything I wanted,” Kerfoot said.

One welcome leader has advice for these first timers to survive dorm life — “Learn how to cook, because your body can only take mac and cheese for so long,” Chandler Bell said.
