Marvin Lenard Waxler

Marvin Lenard Waxler, age 72, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and husband of Heidi Metz Waxler, departed this life Thursday afternoon, December 21, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett, Tennessee.

Lenard was born July 22, 1951 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of the late Homer Louis Waxler and Ottis Ellen Russel Waxler. He served his country in the United States Army for 9½ years in Germany, Alaska, Colorado and Korea as a Staff Sergeant. He was employed as a tugboat engineer, a truck driver and then a logistics engineer before his retirement.

While in Germany, he met his wife, Heidi Metz, and they were married on October 5, 1977. He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors and was a hobby machinist. He loved his family and his dogs.

Mr. Waxler is survived by his wife, Heidi Metz Waxler; his daughter, Wendy Bomar; his son, Marvin Waxler (Tetiana); and his grandson, Hunter Bomar.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Timberman and Carolyn Campbell; and three brothers, Lewis Ray Waxler, Terry Lee Waxler and Johnny Dean Waxler.

A visitation for Mr. Waxler will be from 12 noon until 2 P.M. Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Funeral Services will be at 2 P.M. Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bobby Holland officiating. Interment will be at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Memphis.
