Mother of 5 seeks help after fire at Jackson home
JACKSON, Tenn. – Tamia Trull is a 27-year-old mother of five. She recently gave birth to a newborn about two weeks ago.
Trull stated that she was just talking to her sister, who works for dispatch, about incidents in the Jackson area.
Little did she know that she would experience a fire at her own home, located on Briar Cliff Drive.
“She was just telling me about another fire as she was walking out the door, like literally,” Trull said.
Trull stated that she was drying clothes at the time as normal when she realized something wasn’t right.
“My dryer was smoking. But I’m not thinking it was really in flames, but it was smoking really bad,” Trull said.
Trull then began to put out the lint trap and that’s when she saw that it was on fire.
“It just started catching the blankets and everything. Like, it was fast. Like it was nothing we could’ve did in that moment to stop it,” Trull said.
After Trull saw that she couldn’t control the fire, the next thing she knew to do was to protect her family.
“We just got out. We got out the living room. We got out the house and the smoke started getting black and it was just bad,” Trull said.
As a hairstylist, her home was one of the places where she made her money and now she has had to make different arrangements.
“It’s not really interfering too much, as I do it as I need to. But I’m confident that things will get back to what they need to be,” Trull said.
Trull wanted to let everyone know to check their dyers because you never know what could happen.
Studies show that more than 15,000 home fires per year are caused by dryers. Be aware and be alert.
