A local church spreads holiday cheer to families in need

LEXINGTON, Tenn.—A local church expands their kitchen to the community for the holidays.

The First United Methodist Church held their Mobile Food Pantry earlier today in Lexington.

This is something they do every Thursday.

Church officials say they chose to give back to the community and serve as a resource for those in the community that may not be able to have a meal during the holiday season.

Pastor Roger Brown says they will serve over 100 families in Henderson county by the end of the day.

The food is acquired by donations and grants.

The only requirements to utilize their mobile food pantry are to be a resident of Henderson county and fill out a form.

This allows people to use the mobile food pantry twice a month.

“This time of year, when we celebrate Christmas, we’re reminded of Christ our Lord and for us this is an expression of our faith and something that’s central to us and our mission, to share the gospel and love of God and our neighbor in our community,” Pastor Brown said.
