Free soup giveaway held for Christmas in Selmer

SELMER, Tenn. – A local city gave back to their community this Christmas.

Members of Selmer had a free soup giveaway for members of their community.

This is something that members have done for the past two years.

Soup was donated by families in Selmer, visitors had the choice of chili, potato soup, and so many more soups to enjoy.

“We have a lot of people that are…that don’t have family or the family has already had Christmas. And like I said we have a lot of shut-ins and a community that just needs that little extra Christmas spirit,” said Selmer Mayor Sherry Inman.

Leftover soup was taken to the shelters in the surrounding area.
