Post-holiday sales could save you money

JACKSON, Tenn. – Taking advantage of post-holiday sales can save you a lot of money.

Retail experts say one of the popular retail trends is the after-Christmas-time sale.

“Right now, a lot of stores are having their end-of-the-season sale or their semi-annual sale. Our store right now just kicked off the semi-annual sale and customers are looking for that opportunity to get that perfect deal after Christmas,” said Charisse Kyle, the Store Manager of Talbots.

Retailers say they expect to see heavy foot traffic into late February of shoppers that come in with gift cards, and those that need returns or exchanges from gifts.

“People are coming in, especially at the end-of-the-season sale, to maximize those dollars using their gift cards in conjunction with any sale that is going on,” Kyle said.

Trends also show items such as winter clothing, toys, holiday decorations, and electronics all tend to see a marked drop in price as retailers clear their holiday stock.

Experts also say to make use of time off during the holidays because overstock inside stores is limited due to a shift since 2019.

“I think shoppers should not wait too long. Inventory isn’t what it used to be, and if you wait too late waiting for that super duper deal, you may miss out on that item,” Kyle said.

To make the most of the sales, advice would be to plan and have a list of items you wish to buy at discounted prices.

Retail experts say after-Christmas sales are the final chance to save on end-of-the-year discounts before moving into the new year.
