Shirley Rinehart Flake
Shirley was born on November 1, 1949 in Nurnberg, Germany, the daughter of the late James and Kay Baumgartner Rinehart. Shirley was born on the tail end of WWII as a wartime baby while her dad served overseas. Throughout her childhood and adolescence her family moved all over the place with her dad being in the military. She often told people she went to 13 different schools. The family moved to Madison County when Shirley was in the 12th grade.
Shirley lived on the family farm on Womack Lane in Denmark from that point forward before moving to Humboldt to be closer to her daughter. She loved horses and raised many on the farm. She also loved showing horses.
Shirley worked for many years as a Department Manager for Wal-Mart. After retirement, she enjoyed ballroom dancing. She was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Humboldt.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Rinehart Harper; and her niece, Dawn Harper.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Robbins (Jim); her grandson, Taylor Robbins; her sister, Peggy Rinehart Puckett; and her nieces and nephews, Jimmy Krass, Bill Antwine (Anissa), Danielle Greene (Boyce), and Christine Hamilton. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
Shirley’s wishes were to be cremated and a memorial service for her will be held after the first of 2024 at Smyrna Baptist Church in Humboldt.
