Jackson police seek women in $1,500 gift card fraud at Kroger

JACKSON, Tenn. — Officers are seeking to identify two women they say fraudulently obtained around $1,500 in gift cards from Kroger in north Jackson.
Two women entered the store on West University Parkway on three separate occasions and defrauded cashiers into believing $500 had been loaded onto the cards, according to a report from the Jackson Police Department.
The incidents reportedly happened between Aug. 2 and 5. The women were captured on store surveillance video and were working together, according to police.
The women would purchase a small item and then defraud the cashier into believing they had paid $500 to be loaded onto the gift card, according to the report.
One of the women is described as a black woman around 50 years old with red hair, a heavy build and wearing a pink tank top and white shorts.
The second woman is described as a black woman around 21 to 28 years old with dark hair, a heavy build and wearing a white t-shirt and striped pants.
The younger woman had two middle school-aged children with her, according to the report.
The women reportedly left the scene in a gray Chevy Impala of around a 2002 year model.
