Madison Co. Fire Dept. seeks to give away 1K smoke alarms

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Madison County Fire Department needs your help in reaching its goal of keeping the public safe.

Smoke alarms detectorsThis year, the department has partnered with the state fire marshal to give out smoke detectors. The devices are free of charge.

All you have to do is make an appointment and a firefighter will install it for you.

“[We will be] targeting folks that don’t have a smoke alarm or may have a smoke alarm that’s over 10 years old that needs to be replaced,” Madison County Fire Marshal Don Friddle said. “They are very important features that everyone needs to have in their home.”

The fire department set a goal to give out 1,000 fire alarms. So far, they’ve given out more than 900.
