AJ Massey gives State of the County address
MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. – Mayor AJ Massey addressed the State of the County to members of the Rotary Club Wednesday.
Mayor Massey said the county is in a good financial standing coming out of 2023 with $2.9 million put back into the budget during his address.
He spoke of multiple projects and initiatives over the past year that will contribute to the development of Madison County.
“Of course the continuation of Great Wolf Lodge, industrial development projects, state games announcement,” Massey said.
In addition to this, Massey talked about the expansion of the parks including Middle Fork Bottoms becoming a state park.
Massey states he’s proud of what’s happened over the year and is honored to share the information with the community.
There are around 100,000 residents in Madison County and Massey expressed gratitude for each individual.
“All 100,000 carry their weight in their own unique way, and we’re proud of that. And I just want to thank my 100,000 bosses every day for letting me show up and serve our great county,” Massey said.
Massey also explained his theme “pass the bucket” which is a goal to aid everyone in the community and work with others within the community to get things accomplished.
“The theme this year is we are going to ‘take the bucket’ and whoever gives it to us, whatever citizen issue comes across, we are going to make sure that bucket is passed on to whoever can put out the fire before it’s empty. Nobody is going to be left aside, nobody is going to be ignored. If it’s not my department’s issue, ‘Oh well.’ We are going to find the department whose issue it may be,” Massey said.
Mayor Massey also updated the community on tax revenues and expressed gratitude for a new grant coordinator who was hired in 2023.
