AI voice cloning scam reported in Crockett County
FROM THE CROCKETT COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT:
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE VOICE CLONING SCAM REPORTED IN CROCKETT COUNTY
ALAMO, TN – We have been monitoring this scam and it is now happening to citizens in our county.
The scammers clone the voice of your loved one (maybe a daughter or grandson) – then call you in distress pretending to be them to obtain your financial information.
PLEASE talk to your loved ones – especially our senior citizens – and advise them to not give out their financial/personal information over the phone.
One solution is to ask for a number they can call back and call them back when you are with them.
This is a disgusting thing to do to our senior citizens – not only are they worried a loved one is in trouble but they are scammed out of their hard earned money.
Please notify the CCSD if you or a loved one are a victim of this scam.
