McNairy County wants shoppers to find ‘Waldo’

SELMER, Tenn. — Shoppers will be trying to spot a well-known character throughout McNairy County businesses.

They’ll be trying to track down Waldo. It’s a campaign running through the month of September throughout the county.

“It’s just kind of an innovative way each month to try to get people out in the county spending money and promoting McNairy County,” said Eddie Crittendon with the McNairy County Chamber.

Each day, the chamber will post a clue on its social media pages telling curious minds where Waldo might be. Crittendon said with a 4 percent increase in tourism over the past year, they’re hoping to keep that momentum.

“It appears to us and the ones who do the studies that people want to get out and explore their own counties and along with that, tourists and new folks coming in too,” Crittendon said. “So I think as they look at the numbers next year, we’ll see an increase in that as well.”

The people who find Waldo will be entered to win a $100 gift card of their choice.
