WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

The snow will taper off over the next few hours in Obion and Weakley counties and that line will slowly drift to the south overnight. Snow will continue along and south of I-40 for the first half of the day on Monday. Expect another inch or two north of I-40 but 3-5″ more possible in McNairy & Hardin counties. We are also expecting the wind chill to drop below zero tonight, Monday night and Tuesday night as well. Catch the latest forecast information right here.

WINTER STORM WARNING:
A winter storm warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Memphis from now until 6am Tuesday morning. According to the NWS, 2-7″ of snow will fall during that time frame. The snow will come in two waves. The first snow will start Sunday night and last through Monday morning and impact all of West Tennessee. The second heavy snow will come in Monday morning into Monday afternoon and mostly impacts areas along and south of I-40. Travel will be very difficult and the hazardous conditions will impact the morning and evening commutes on Monday. A winter storm warning is issued when Heavy snow and/or sleet and ice accumulations are imminent or occurring. Society and commerce is expected to be greatly impacted. Precipitation may be accompanied by gusty wind. For a mixture of snow, sleet, or freezing rain, only two inches of snow is required.

WIND CHILL ADVISORY:

TONIGHT:
Snow showers started last Sunday afternoon and got heavy in the evening. Snow showers will continue tonight with most of the region picking up between 1-3″ of snow. More snow is expected on Monday. Also, the coldest weather so far this season is on the tap for Sunday night in West Tennessee and will get even colder as we head into next week. Morning lows will drop down to the low teens tonight and possibly even down to upper single digits for some. The winds tonight will be brisk and come out of the north. The wind chill will drop below 0° tonight and could get as low as 5-10° below 0° by Monday morning. Cloudy skies will stick around all night and will continue for most of the day on Monday.

The system looks to be quite the attention grabber. It is bringing our first round of accumulating snow so far this season and the coldest weather we have seen in over a year. Please be prepared as this looks to be a bread and milk getting type system. The forecast may change some but everyone in West Tennessee is going to get in on the snow and cold act this time around. Highs next Monday might only reach 20°. The main question as far as the temperatures, will be when the clouds move out. As long as the clouds stick around we will stay above 10°, but once they clear out, temperatures could bottom out to the low single digits.

NEXT WEEK:
Accumulations of snow seem extremely likely for all of West Tennessee and the current thoughts are the highest amounts will be in our southern counties with the lowest amounts being in our northern counties. The main question as far as snow totals will be how long into the afternoon the snow continues on Monday. If the snow moves out early, we might get 2-4″. But if it sticks around late, 4-6″ of snow will be the result.

On top of the snow chances, single digit or even below zero temperatures are likely Sunday night, Monday night and again on Tuesday night. The wind chill will be a major concern Tuesday and Wednesday morning for all of us. The wind chill will be below zero on Monday night and maybe as low as -15° Tuesday night.
The snow will move out late in the day on Monday but the cold will stick around for most of next week. Please plan accordingly and be prepared to stay inside for a few days early next week. Please remember the 4 ps (people, pipes, pets and plants) as the system moves in late over the weekend and the frigid air moves in early next week.

FINAL THOUGHT:
Some areas saw over 4″ of rain this week between the first two systems and snow is coming Sunday night into Monday and it is going to be accumulating snow. A winter storm warning has been issued and heavy snow is coming as we wrap up the weekend and head into next week. EXTREME bitter life threatening cold will move in next week so please be prepared as we are also under a wind chill advisory.

We will fine tune the forecast as the weekend progresses but we are not expecting the forecast to change much. Stay with WBBJ this week for the latest forecast information and be prepared, not scared and stay weather aware. Please remember the 4ps, especially you, your pets and your property as the cold moves in this weekend.
