Woman charged with using hammer, Mace in assault

JACKSON, Tenn. — A woman appeared Friday in Jackson City Court on accusations of attacking another woman with a hammer.

Felicia McElrath is accused of attacking the woman last week.

The victim told police that as she got out of her car at East Pointe Apartments, McElrath hit her in the face with the hammer and sprayed her with Mace, then continued to hit her in the head with the hammer.

McElrath is charged with aggravated assault. She remains jailed in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
