Floating Garden

INGREDIENTS

  • Carrot
  • Radish
  • Celery
  • Tomato
  • Squash
  • Bell Pepper
  • Transparent Container


INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1:  Fill the transparent container three-fourths of the way with water.

STEP 2:  Observe the carrot, radish, celery, tomato, squash and bell pepper.  Which are considered fruits and which are considered vegetables?  Why?

STEP 3:  Drop the fruits and vegetables into the transparent container with water.  Which float and which do not float?  Why?


EXPLANATION

Leaves, stems, and roots are considered vegetables, while a fruit is the part of the plant containing the seed.
