Weather Update: Thursday, January 18 —

Good Morning west Tennessee. We are starting the morning off mainly day, but still cold with temps in the upper teens to low 20. A clipper-like system is moving from near the Red River Valley across Arkansas, arriving here in West Tennessee later this afternoon and evening. As it move in wintry precipitation is expected to develop and move in around lunch time and last through much of the afternoon. More importantly will be the temperature which will be gradually warming while the precipitation is falling, it will change all of the precipitation over to plain rain likely by around 3- 4PM especially south of I-40. There will be some travel headaches (black ice, light glaze… this afternoon through this evening. That said, there is still a Winter Weather Advisory. It will be in effect until 7:00 PM this evening, even though the wintry precipitation will be long gone after 4 or 5 PM. There could however be some lingering freezing fog until the cold front passes overnight into Friday morning… winds will pick back up out of the NW 5-10 mph…
