Update January 22nd, 2024…

An ice storm continues to setup in areas to our west as heavy rain heads our way. Freezing rain and sleet will continue through today just to our west as temperatures continue to rise well above freezing by the afternoon here in west Tennessee. A slow moving front will slowly push along just off to our south with plenty of heavy rain drifting up into the area over the next few days along with much warmer temperatures. While the ice and sleet to our west looks threatening, It will stay just off to our west as it rides along to the northeast. It’s the cold rain that will head our way for the evening and overnight as temperatures have already warmed above freezing in most areas as of this mid morning.

TODAY:

Warmer temperatures under cloudy skies. A few showers mainly in the western counties. Highs in the lower 40s.

Rain will move in tonight with lows in the upper 30s. Rain heavy at times overnight into Tuesday morning. Rain will continue into Tuesday afternoon with several rounds of rain into Wednesday night and Wednesday morning. Heavy rain into Wednesday evening with a few thunder rumbles possible as temperatures climb to the upper 50s Wednesday and lower 60s on Thursday.

TOTAL RAINFALL THROUGH EARLY FRIDAY MORNING…..

Rain will finally wind down by Friday morning and with the Snow and Ice melting along with additional 2 to 3 inches of rain this week, Flooding may occur in low lying areas.
