Madison County Commission holds first meeting of 2024

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. – The first Madison County Commission meeting of the year got underway Monday morning.

Invocation and roll call started the event followed by public comments.

Monday morning also featured a presentation from Morgan White, Executive Director of the Jackson Arts Council.

Most discussion centered around potentially taking steps to bring back a nonprofit committee which was unsettled. A new electronic voting system was also tested.

“Whenever we have a request for roll call vote or it is something that has to pertain to a roll call then we’re going to start using the voting machines because it gives a visual of who actually voted for what versus just a number,” said Michael Taylor, the commission chairman.

The meeting took time to thank first responders and road crews with their help during the recent storms.
