Former Selmer police officer pleads guilty to child porn charge

MCNAIRY COUNTY, Tenn. — A former lieutenant with the Selmer Police Department has pleaded guilty to accessing child pornography on a hidden website.

Tony O. Miller, 36, of Finger Tennessee, was a member of a website dedicated to sharing child pornography. This website contained images of minor children engaging in sexual activity with adults. Some of the minors were under 12 years of age.

Miller used special technology to access the website due to it not being accessible using traditional search engines like Google or Bing. This technology is also designed to conceal the identity of the users.

The FBI conducted an undercover investigation into the website and identified users of the site, including the former Selmer PD officer, Miller.  Miller admitted that he used the Internet and work-issued digital devices to access the website to view child pornography. He also admitted to using technology to try to hide his criminal activity.

This case was investigated by the FBI, with assistance from the FBI Major Case Coordination Unit in Linthicum, Maryland, and the Selmer Police Department.

Miller pleaded guilty to one count of accessing with intent to view child pornography on Thursday. Miller is scheduled to be sentenced on Friday, December 16.

Miller faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
