Weather Update – 10:30 p.m. Friday
Skies will gradually become mostly cloudy with a chance for scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms overnight. Temperatures will drop to the lower and middle 70s by sunrise at 6:40 a.m. Saturday. Tomorrow, rain will become more likely with off-and-on showers and thunderstorms from morning through afternoon. Some storms could become strong so stay weather-aware tomorrow!
THIS WEEKEND
A cold front will move into West Tennessee tomorrow bringing showers and thunderstorms with it. Right now, we’re looking at a 70% chance for rain during the day across West Tennessee, but that rain will be likeliest from hours after sunrise through the afternoon. If the storms leave during the later hours of the afternoon we could be able to see some of the sunset which happens just before 7pm at 6:59 p.m. Saturday night.
One or two thunderstorms could become strong or even severe on Saturday between the later morning and afternoon bringing a small possibility for damaging winds and large hail. This potential depends a lot on timing – if the rain comes earlier in the day severe weather isn’t going to be as likely, but if it arrives during the afternoon, some areas could have some bad thunderstorms with those threats along with frequent lightning and heavy rainfall.
Scattered showers will continue to be possible on Sunday but it will be clearer by evening. Highs will be in the middle to upper 80s this weekend.
NEXT WEEK
An area of warm and dry air will settle into West Tennessee next week bringing mainly dry conditions and mostly sunny skies from Monday through Thursday. Temperatures will still be warm for mid-September with highs in the middle to upper 80s. Stay with the VIPIR 7 Storm Team for the latest updates to the forecast!
Have a wonderful weekend!
