Drier Weather For The Moment, Heavy Rain Saturday
Thursday Night Forecast Update
Patchy dense fog returns overnight but the rain moves out. Some drier air is finally working in from the southwest this evening and we are seeing partly cloudy skies just off to our west. A dry notch of air will move in overnight into the day tomorrow and while skies will still remain mostly cloudy through the day, rain will stay away until Saturday morning. Rain will be heavy on Saturday and may lead to flood problems.
TONIGHT:
Skies will be partly cloudy at times but with patchy dense fog returning, it want matter that much as the general look will be cloudy. We may see a few sun peeks tomorrow but most of the day will be under mostly cloudy skies. We should remain rain free for at least 24 hours before heavy rain makes it in by early Saturday morning. Rainfall totals will be high, between 2 and 3 inches along the I-40 corridor which may lead to flood advisories. Temperatures will be in the mid 40s tonight with mid to upper 50s tomorrow. Upper 40’s with rain on Saturday.
FRIDAY AND SATURDAY:
The rain moves in early Saturday staying with us throughout the day. Rain should move out late Saturday night allowing for a drier second half of the weekend. A few rumbles of thunder will be possible on Saturday but temperatures and support for severe weather looks very limited. With that said, People in low lying areas or areas that tend to flood easily should pay attention for flood alerts that may be needed Saturday.
SUNDAY:
Sunday will be cooler as the cold front brings in cooler temperatures but the day should be pretty dry and we’ll start a dry pattern around the time. Highs on Sunday will be in the mid 40s.
NEXT WEEK:
It will be a cold start in the upper 20s on Monday morning with Monday afternoon in the low 50s. We’ll trend towards a partly sunny sky by early noon to mostly clear skies late day. Temperatures will warm some into mid week with around 60 on Tuesday blasting through with abundant sunshine! Mid 50s on Wednesday, Upper 50s on Thursday and right now looks dry through at least the end of the work week.
FINAL THOUGHT:
All the snow melted early this week but was replaced by several rounds of rain showers. Everyone should see a minimum of 2″ of rain this week with some folks picking up over 4″ of rain. A few storms will be possible but we are not expecting severe weather in West Tennessee this week. Some flooding issues may arise so we will be keeping a close eye on the rivers, creeks and streams later during the week. We might be staying above freezing for the next few weeks too!
