Accused gunman faces attempted murder charge in restaurant shooting

JACKSON, Tenn. — An accused gunman was charged Monday with attempted murder in a recent shooting.

Authorities say Quewlyn Mays pulled a .22-caliber revolver on Sept. 7 inside Mary Long’s, a restaurant in east Jackson, and shot the victim in the leg during an argument.

Court records say the victim identified Mays in a lineup.

He faces counts of attempted first-degree murder and illegally owning a weapon.
