2 West Tenn. women face TennCare fraud charges

WEAKLEY COUNTY, Tenn. — Two West Tennessee women are facing TennCare fraud charges involving prescription drugs.

Amanda Pope, 37, of Martin is charged with 15 counts of TennCare fraud and 19 counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, according to a release from the Office of Inspector General.

She is accused of using TennCare to get fraudulent prescriptions for the painkiller hydrocodone in both her and her boyfriend’s names.

Ashley Ditto, 29, of Yorkville in Gibson County is charged in nearby Weakley County with four counts of TennCare fraud, according to the release.

Ditto is accused of using TennCare to get prescriptions for the painkiller Oxycodone while failing to tell the doctor that she was pregnant.

As of July 1, TennCare fraud was changed to a Class D felony punishable by up to four years in prison.

Anyone can report suspected TennCare fraud by calling 1-800-433-3982 or by visiting the Office of Inspector General website and clicking “Report TennCare Fraud.”
