Man found guilty of attempted murder in 2015 shooting
JACKSON, Tenn. — A man accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend in April 2015 has been convicted of attempted murder.
Michael Stitts of Jackson was found guilty Tuesday afternoon of four charges including attempted first-degree murder.
His bond was revoked, and his sentencing hearing is scheduled for Nov. 21.
Investigators had previously said Stitts admitted to going to his ex-girlfriend’s house on Highview Street armed with a 28-gauge shotgun and forcing his way inside.
Officers say he admitted to removing an air conditioner to get inside and then shooting through the bathroom door and getting into a struggle with the victim.
Court documents say the victim was shot at least twice, once in her chest and once in her arm.
Stitts was charged with attempted first-degree murder, especially aggravated burglary and two firearm counts.
