Family claims body of missing man found in east Jackson; JPD only confirms an investigation
JACKSON, Tenn. — A large police presence outside the Intown Apartments at 530 East Main Street drew onlookers and a lot of questions, Tuesday night.
Police stayed very tight lipped about why they were there, only confirming an investigation. A blue tarp blocked the work area where officers, including members of the Criminal Investigation Division could been seen working. The department’s Critical Incident vehicle was also present. It is typically brought in for cases that will require officers to be on a scene for an extended amount of time.
A family at the scene told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News, the officers had found the body of their missing loved one. According to the family, officers called to inform them of the discovery earlier in the evening. They claim the family member has not been seen since February. We are not releasing the person’s name pending confirmation from Jackson police. As of late Tuesday night, police had not confirmed any of the information from the family.
Police Chief Julian Wiser said more details will be released Wednesday. Stay with WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News for the latest on this developing story.
