Some cities moving fireworks displays for weather

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) – Many Tennesseans looking to celebrate the Fourth of July will have to make do with a lightning display for now.

Thunderstorms are expected to build across the state and be most pronounced in the eastern sections, where up to five inches of rain could fall by Sunday.

Some cities have already moved fireworks displays. The Chattanooga Times Free Press reported Collegedale moved its show to Sept. 1 and Soddy-Daisy rescheduled its display for Oct. 5.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reported the Oak Ridge display has been moved to Sunday night and The Cosby Sunset Gap celebration will be moved to Saturday if the weather is wet.

Knoxville is urging residents to check its home page at cityofknoxville.org or the city Face Book page late tomorrow.
