MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office to keep kids safe as part of Child Passenger Safety Week.

Screen Shot 2016-09-22 at 6.22.45 PMAlthough deputies will always check to see if seats are properly installed, this week is about educating the public on proper installation.

It’s recommended that children younger than 13 sit in the backseat and be in a booster seat until they are four feet nine inches tall.

“We want people to know that they’ve got a proper child seat, that it’s properly installed, and if they have questions we’re here to assist them and making sure that that’s right,” said Sgt. Joe Gill with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

Sept. 24 marks National Seat Check Saturday. Drivers are encouraged to get car seats checked by any law enforcement agency.
