MCSO responds to early morning shooting; one injured
MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting Friday morning on Westover Road that sent one to the hospital.
Deputies responded around 7 a.m. to a call that a woman had been shot by a man wearing a black hoodie, according to Sheriff John Mehr. The woman told officers that she was approached by a man with a gun. She said they wrestled briefly over the gun when she was shot in the leg, according to the sheriff.
The sheriff says the claim that a man shot her is false.
According to Sheriff Mehr, they responded to a call at the same address on Thursday to reports of someone having broken into the home and taking pills.
Mehr says he will meet with the district attorney to determine if charges will be filed.
The woman, whose name has not been released, was taken to the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital for treatment for the non-life threatening injury, according to the sheriff.
The investigation is ongoing.
