Search for missing man still on-going

OBION COUNTY, Tenn. – The search for a missing man in Obion County continued Tuesday.

Tuesday marked the second day in a mission for the recovery of Charles Baldridge, 62, of Troy, whose vehicle was found in a drainage ditch off Highway 51 Friday.

The day saw additional law enforcement agencies and search and rescue teams brought in.

The Madison County Fire Department brought a mobile command center that uses technology to pull up SARTopo maps.

“We gave the search crews GPSs and walkie-talkies that way they can contact here. Their tracks are actually mapped out on the map so it shows us a running of where they’ve been and where they’ve covered,” said Lt. Joe Key, with the Obion County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say Tuesday’s focus has been from 45 West at Hoosier Creek.

Teams continued to search on foot around the railroad trestle on Church Drive to the Obion River.

“To put a boat in up at 45 W, and they’re going to start dragging, seeing if they can hit some of those deep spots,” Key said.

Authorities hope with warmer temperatures and since the water has receded that they will recover the remains of Baldridge.

“We are going to give our value and effort and check every nook and cranny in the ditch that we can,” Key said.

Authorities say if they do not recover a body, the search will continue Wednesday.

And they plan to call in additional law enforcement and first responders to help complete this recovery mission.
