Community leaders, law enforcement unite to pray for peace, unity in Jackson
JACKSON, Tenn.-The Jackson community came together Wednesday night to unite in peace and unity.
The prayer service was led by Pastor Justin Wainscott and Pastor William Watson and took place in front of the Madison County Courthouse in downtown Jackson.
The two churches, Historic First Baptist Church and First Baptist Church, invited other local churches and those not affiliated with a congregation to attend and pray with them.
Pastor Wainscott said it was an event he felt needed to happen.
“This is the community that I live in, so these are the people that I know and care about, so I want to see our community doing all that it can to come together, so that we’re not the next story that everyone’s hearing about,” said Pastor Wainscott of First Baptist Church, Jackson.
Members of the Jackson Police Department were also in attendance and the community even touched and prayed for the leaders who were there.
