Wednesday, a Madison County jury found Corbyn Davis guilty of first degree murder and having a gun as a convicted felon.

“I’m complete, I can rest, we can rest,” said Latoya Rogers

Rogers’ younger brother, Jamar Rogers was killed in 2014 after police said Davis shot him in the parking lot of the Omni Center along the Highway 45 Bypass.

Latoya now says her family can start to heal.

“We have closure, now it’s time to get even closer as a family because we are all we have.”

Records show Davis has a lengthy arrest record that dates back to 2008 and includes counts such as evading arrest, domestic assault, plus drug and probation violations.

Rogers said the two years since her brother’s death have been the hardest she has known.

“It’s like a waiting procedure, and you’re anxious and you want some justice and you want it then and you want it now but we waited it out and it all worked out for the best.”

But today she feels an extra special presence with her.

“I know he is smiling right now, he’s thrilled. He is greatly missed, Jamar is missed everyday. He is talked about numerous times a day and he will never be forgotten.”

Davis remains at the Madison County jail without bond. His sentencing is scheduled for November 7 at 1:30 p.m.
