First ever “Black and Blue Barbeque” helps to unite law enforcement, community
JACKSON, Tenn.-The Jackson community was invited to the first ever “Black and Blue Barbecue” on the former Jackson Central-Merry High School campus. The event was hosted by Lane College and the Jackson Police Department.
Community members were encouraged to interact with local law enforcement.
Lane College President Doctor Logan Hampton said this was an effort to develop dialogue between the law enforcement community and the students.
“We love these students . We want them to be in a better and live in a better world that we start today to build and take affirmative steps to build a positive relationship,” said Doctor Hampton.
The Lane College Quiet Storm Marching Band also performed at the barbecue.
