Union University holds ‘Topping Out’ ceremony

JACKSON, Tenn. – A local university held a special ceremony on Monday.

Union University held their topping-out ceremony at the Carl Grant Event Center.

This ceremony was held to celebrate a milestone in the construction of a new academic building on campus.

At the ceremony, the last steel beam was available for students, faculty, and staff to sign before being added to the project.

The new building will house the McAfee School of Business and the Computer Science and Engineering departments.

The beam will be installed onto the structure on Tuesday.

“It’s a very important part of our campus master plan, and the opportunities it’s going to hold for our students for years to come are tremendous,” said Tim Ellsworth, the Associate Vice President for University Communications at Union University.

Union University expects the building to be completed by the spring semester of 2025.
