2024 Hub City Innovation Cup begins
JACKSON, Tenn. – The 2024 Hub City Innovation Cup began Friday at the Jackson Energy Authority training center.
It is a pitch-style competition sponsored by the JEA.
Teams of students from four local colleges – TCAT, Lane College, Freed-Hardeman University, and Union University – came together to hear about a problem that Jackson is facing.
These teams have 24 hours to find an innovative solution.
“We actually have a record 18 teams participating this year. So we’re really excited about that. And then tomorrow afternoon, they will participate in two different rounds of judging. Our top six will go to the finals, and then the top three are awarded some very nice monetary prizes from JEA,” said Colene Trent, an Associate Professor of Economics at Union University.
The top team splits $3,000.
Each team has a five-minute presentation with additional questions from judges possible.
The presentation of the winners is Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
