Rain Continues Off and On Rain Through Monday Morning

Saturday Morning Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

A stalled out cold front will stay in the area through Monday and a series of disturbances will move along the front into the weekend keeping rain with us on and off through Monday. As of Saturday morning, Radar estimates of between 1 and 2 inches of rain fell in many locations and additional rain will likely add at least another inch or so by Monday. The lower end severe threat has now shifted off to our south where it should stay the rest of the weekend but a few weak storms can still be expected.

Warm and humid weather will also be lingering through the weekend before some cooler weather returns next week. We will be tracking the radar and have your full weekend forecast details coming up right here.

THE WEEKEND:

The weekend forecast appears to be challenging and will be very similar to what we saw the previous weekend. A multiple low pressure systems will track to the south of us along the gulf coast. Several rain bands associated with the systems will move through West Tennessee through Monday morning. Like last weekend, the highest rain amounts will be in our southern counties with some of us seeing 2-3″ southeast of Jackson with areas north seeing between 1-2″. Showers and storms have shifted mainly south of I-40 as of Saturday morning but will return to areas north of I-40 by late afternoon into tonight.

Both weekend days we could see a break in the rain in the middle of the day with a much shorter break on Saturday than Sunday. A few storms  pop up with the rain again late afternoon and evening. More heavy rain showers will move in late Saturday night and stick around Saturday night. Sunday morning into early afternoon looks like a nice break in the rain before more rain returns late in the day. The highest rain amounts will stay in our southern counties.

The winds will come out of the west on Saturday and out of the northwest on Sunday. Expect a cloudy weekend for the most part. Rain showers will come in several rounds this weekend for most of us. Highs will reach the low to mid 60s Saturday and Sunday morning lows will hang around 50°. Sunday highs will be a litter cooler and make it up to the upper 50s. Chances for rain as of now is 70% on Saturday and 80% on Sunday. The rain will not be constant and will come in several waves, we might get a decent break during the day on Sunday before more rain comes back Sunday night into the day on Monday.

NEXT WEEK:

Monday will be a cooler day with temperatures hanging around into the low 50s or upper 40s all day long. More rain is expected to fall on Monday before clearing out late in the day or by Monday night. Tuesday will remain a bit cool but we should be dry on Tuesday with some sun returning into the afternoon. The winds will come out of the north or northwest to kick off the week. We could finally see a break in the warm weather later in the week as some more seasonably cool weather will look to move back in. As of now, Valentine’s Day looks mostly sunny and dry with highs in the mid 50s. Date night will see temperatures in the 40s in the evening on Wednesday.

FINAL THOUGHT:

The drought situation continues to improve across West Tennessee and this week is going to bring some more relief. Rainy weather today and a break the first half of Sunday.
