Ford Motor Company welcomes West Tennessee leaders to tour Michigan facility

JACKSON, Tenn. — Members from Ford Motor Company in Michigan recently welcomed West Tennessee leaders to tour their facility.

“We got to tour two of their manufacturing plants, one where the Ford F150 truck is produced, and then the other one is where there Ford F150 lighting truck is produced,” said Joe Barker, Southwest Tennessee Development District.

This opportunity was two years in the making and provided leaders with education about the impact BlueOval can bring to West Tennessee.

“You know with trips like that, establishing networks and developing relationships is absolutely critical to make sure we’re all on the same page and we’re moving forward in the right direction,” said Mayor of Stanton Allen Sterbinsky.

Members of Ford shared some ideas on how the move can become impactful for their team.

“Well what I’m focusing on as Staton Mayor is getting water and sewer down to all the areas it needs development, and we’re working towards that now,” Sterbinsky said. “I have a deadline to meet and we’re pushing full speed forward.”

This conference went so well that there is talk of having more meetings in the future.

“They very much appreciated the effort of these local elected officials made to come up there personally,” Barker said. “But also the attitude that they had in saying ‘What can we do for you?'”

These leaders also say there were talks of having hotels located near the BlueOval property.
