Henderson Co. fire officials prepare to kick off Fire Prevention Week

HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn.-Henderson County and Lexington Fire Departments will kick off National Fire Prevention week this Friday.

The event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m at the Walmart in Lexington.
Henderson County Fire Chief Lynn Murphy said one of the main reasons for the event is to get more residents alarmed.

“Fire prevention and safety. We offer all the things we have such as literature and also the signing up for the free smoke alarms and installation,” said Chief Murphy.

Chief Murphy said they have held the kick-off for the past 10 years. In 2015, 50 residents signed up at the event to have the free 10-year smoke alarms installed in their homes.
