Debut author holds book signing at Lane College for her book, “The Mayor of Maxwell Street”
JACKSON, Tenn.–An event brought out community members to one local college to meet an author Thursday evening.
A book signing and reception were held at Lane College’s Cyber Cafe for attendees to meet debut author Avery Cunningham and for her to sign copies of her new book titled, “The Mayor of Maxwell Street.”
Cunningham gives us a brief synopsis of what her new book is all about.
“The Mayor of Maxwell Street” is a work of adult historical fiction about an ambitious black debutante in 1920’s Chicago who enlists the help of a low-level speakeasy manager, to find and identify the head of an underground crime syndicate,” explained Cunningham.
Event organizers say they hope to bring in more authors to events like this in the near future.
