Crockett County Sheriff’s Dept. honors two deputies as lifesavers
INFORMATION FROM THE CROCKETT COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT:
CCSD HONORS TWO DEPUTIES AS LIFESAVERS
On February 6, 2024, we made a post on the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department Facebook Page highlighting Heart Health Awareness Month by the acquisition of 8 additional AEDs which allows all of our deputies to have a defibrillator in their patrol cars.
On Friday, February 16, 2024, our dispatch center received a call of a victim in cardiac arrest. Dispatchers Allison and Alayna took the call and initiated Prepared Live. Bystander CPR was initiated and deputies soon arrived first on scene with an AED that was just put in service days prior.
Deputies Amador and Pitts took an AED to the victim and assisted with CPR. Gadsden Fire First Responders, Crockett County Ambulance Service, and other support personnel arrived on scene shortly thereafter. A pulse was regained and the victim was transported to a local hospital.
This one life saved is worth the money, the additional training, the awareness, the cooperation, the partnerships, the technology investments, and all the effort necessary to produce great team results.
Sheriff Troy Klyce stated, “We recently made a game-day decision to invest in additional AEDs so every officer could have one in their car. We have come a very long way in three years and we continue to see all the fruit of our efforts. I am proud of my dispatchers and deputies – they are always more than willing to go above and beyond for the citizens.”
We are very proud of everyone involved – today is a great day in Crockett County!
