JACKSON, Tenn.- City workers are continuing to clear away debris left behind by recent storms that blew through Jackson several weeks ago. Along Country Club Lane in north Jackson, Tuesday, workers were loading up limbs and trees downed by the storm. The storm hit Jackson about a month ago and left a lot of problems for residents of the area. City officials say they have already picked up tons and tons of debris, and there is even more to be hauled away. “We’re averaging about 300 tons a week with all of the trucks the city has and the trucks that waste management is helping with and I feel it’s going very well,” said Kathleen Huneycutt,” director of Jackson Health and Sanitation Department. City officials said one reason it is taking so long is there was no official federal disaster designation and the city has had to handle all of the cleanup. If you have questions about pickups, call the city at (731) 425-CITY.
