Free breast cancer screenings offered to uninsured women

JACKSON, Tenn.–Dozens of women received free breast cancer screenings Saturday.

Funding from a Tennessee breast and cervical grant allows the uninsured women to get checked each October.

Organizers say the west Tennessee healthcare foundation partners with Kirkland cancer center each year for the event.

More than 170 women registered, but only the first 50 were able to get mammograms Saturday.

Organizers say the rest of the ladies had physicals and will set up appointments for their mammograms later this month.
