HENDERSON, Tenn. – Two young children from Henderson are hospitalized, recovering from a crash that killed their mother. Friends of Erica Hendershot, 30, are still in disbelief after she was killed in a wreck on Highway 72 in Mississippi, Monday afternoon. “She had her whole life ahead of her, and it’s going to be a terrible blow for her children,” said Iris Cooper, a close friend. Family members said Hendershot, along with her son, 10, and daughter, 7, were on their way back from a vacation, when she pulled into the path of a pickup truck in Benton County, Mississippi, at what is known to be a dangerous intersection. Officers described the children’s injuries as serious, but not life threatening. “She was always laughing and smiling,” Cooper said. “She was happy, and I think that’s what we’ll miss.” They said she was a great mom who always put her kids first, and was almost done with cosmetology school, trying to make a better life for her family. “She was a wonderful young woman and now she’s a wonderful young angel.” An angel friends said will still be watching over her children. “She will never know how many people loved her and how much they loved her, and that she meant the world to her mom and dad,” Cooper said. “And I’m sure that they’ll take care of her children, and make sure that they know every good thing about their mom.” Friends said Erica’s body has been taken to a funeral home in Henderson, but arrangements have not been made at this time.
