According to an incident report from the Jackson Police Department, on February 6, a 70-year-old female presumably suffered a medical episode while in the sauna at Gold’s Gym, located on Vann Drive in Jackson.

The report shows the woman checked in to the gym around 11:51 a.m., and was found by gym staff in the sauna around 5:23 p.m.

We spoke with Gold’s Gym Director of Marketing and Communications, Allison Oran, who says the woman experienced a sudden cardiac episode while in the sauna. Oran says upon her discovery, she was immediately removed from the sauna and the gym’s general manager attempted chest compressions.

According to the incident report, her body was transported to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital’s North campus, where second and third degree burns were observed all over her body.

Oran stated that the woman had a preexisting medical condition, and shared that the woman also experienced a similar medical incident while in the gym’s sauna in 2023.

According to Oran, the woman was a longtime member of the gym, and she says that their thoughts are with the family at this time.
