Army’s ‘American Soldier Trailer’ visits West Tennessee school
MARTIN, Tenn. — An interactive adventure semi-truck called “The American Soldier Trailer,” or the U.S. Army‘s AS4, travels the country.
The Army’s interactive exhibit has been visiting high schools in north Mississippi and West Tennessee since February 13.
Wednesday, the truck visited Westview High School in Martin.
Captain Kevin Murphy explains that the trailer’s simulators and displays educate students and teachers on the Army’s jobs and benefits.
The AS4 contains an explosive ordnance disposal robot display; a career navigator display; a night vision interactive exhibit and more.
Students are also able to wear helmets and vests.
“So it’s very important for us to bring these assets out to the schools,” Captain Murphy said. “Within the schools, we can only do our presentations. To give students something that’s hands-on and get them something that’s exciting, exciting about the Army. It’s pretty cool to show them what they can look forward to when they serve.”
The Army has more than 150 jobs to offer, both active duty and part time through Army Reserve.
