Jackson residents asked to take online housing survey to address needs

JACKSON, Tenn. — Sometimes the greatest ideas are the simplest.

The City of Jackson released an online housing survey.

This survey will provide an opportunity to collect information from Hub City residents concerning housing.

We spoke to Claire Pierson, the city’s Coordinator for Community Development, who stated that she wants as many residents as possible to complete the survey.

“It’s online, it’s quick, it’s anonymous, and it’s going to help inform our housing action plan in the future,” Pierson said.

This plan will be put in place by the housing commission, which began last year.

“One of their big goals is to create a housing action plan,” Pierson said. “There’s no solid details on what that’s going to look like yet, but this survey will help inform us.”

She gave us specifics on what the residents will be able to give their input on.

“On the survey, there are questions for how difficult or easy it was to buy a home, to find a rental. If cost is something that’s affecting your ability to find quality housing,” she said.

She also stated that this survey is so the residents receive what they want.

“With the input from residents, then we know what they want and what their priorities are, and we can align our priorities the same way.”

Pierson stated that this is for all residents who live in Jackson.

“Anybody that lives in Jackson. Home owners, renters, anything. Apartment, renting a home.”
