Jackson Fire Department holds Open House for those interested in firefighting career

JACKSON, Tenn.–The Jackson Fire Department holds a special Open House Thursday evening.

The event was held at the fire department’s training facility on South Highland Avenue, next to Jackson Fairgrounds Park.
This open house is for those who applied and for those who want to apply to become a Jackson firefighter.

Applications were available to be filled out and there were displays and some demonstrations of what each skill looks like for those interested in becoming a firefighter.

“This is out first time doing an open house. We’re trying to get more people in, into our hiring processes and for us to be more hands on with them, so we can show them, pretty much a day in the life of a firefighter,” said Duane Seals, Community Risk Reduction Specialist, with the Jackson Fire Department.

Attendees had a chance to mingle with the firefighters, ask questions, look at the equipment, and get a general idea about what life could be like day-to-day as a firefighter.
